Spider Webs

I woke this morning to see the bay engulfed in fog. In the end the fog evaporated and we were left with a gorgeous sunny autumn day. The dew from the fog exposed some stunning spiderwebs. I thought I'd share some of the images that seem fittingly spooky as we head towards Halloween. Regardless of whether spiders are your thing there is absolutely no doubt that they are amazing little engineers...

Some spider web facts:

  • Spider webs are designed to reflect UV light to attract insects

  • Some spiders replace their web every single day!

  • Spiders can produce up to seven types of silk to structure the webs

  • Some parts of the webs are not sticky

  • Some webs span entire rivers (don't ask me how!)
