Happy New Year, everyone!
As we kick off the new year, many of us have made resolutions to eat healthier, exercise more, and maybe even participate in a "dry January" challenge. But let's be real, for some of us, giving up alcohol for an entire month just isn't worth it.
I mean, come on who knows how many January's we have left. Who can resist the temptation of a cold beer after a long day of work or a glass of wine while snuggled up on the couch with a good book?
But fear not, my fellow hedonists! Just because you're not participating in dry January doesn't mean you can't still have a healthy and successful new year. Here are a few alternative resolutions to try:
Limit your alcohol intake to the weekends only.
Choose quality over quantity - opt for a fancy craft beer or a nice bottle of wine.
Drink a glass of water between each alcoholic beverage.
Experiment with alcohol-free alternatives like mocktails or no- and low-alcohol beers.
January always gets me thinking of holidays. I love Portugal and especially their egg tarts (pasteis de Nata) but haven't travelled since the pandemic and in any case I am supposed to be on a diet. It hasn't stopped me dreaming of the Algarve though and has inspired a minimalist wall art clock based on the Barragem Da Bravura, This man made lake has a great fractal pattern when. viewed from above and was perfect for my idea of a fractal clock.
The area is known for its stunning natural beauty, with lush forests, rolling hills, and crystal clear waters. It is home to a diverse array of flora and fauna, including many species of birds, fish, and other wildlife.
But there are no holidays any time soon so in the meantime let's raise a glass (or a water bottle) to a happy and healthy new year, without feeling like we have to completely deprive ourselves of the things that we love be they pastries or pints!
